The Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM), Bhopal, an autonomous institute under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, has announced admissions for its Doctoral Programme in Management (DPM/PhD). The institute has opened 20 seats across diverse research areas including Communication and Extension Management, Ecosystem and Environment Management, Environmental and Development Economics, Finance, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Information Technology and Quantitative Techniques, Sociology and Community Development, Strategic Management, and Technical Forestry.

To be eligible, candidates must meet academic requirements such as a Master’s degree, integrated Master’s degree, BE/BTech with relevant work experience, or professional qualifications like CA/ICWA/CS, generally with at least 60% marks. Applicants appearing in final examinations can also apply, provided they complete eligibility conditions within the specified timeline. Additionally, candidates must be under 45 years of age and possess valid national-level test scores such as CAT, GMAT, GRE, UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, ICAR-SRF, or DST Inspire, depending on the chosen specialization.

The selection process includes shortlisting based on test scores followed by a Research Aptitude Test (RAT) and multiple interview rounds, including general and faculty-area interviews. Bhopal: A large number of PhD seats have remained vacant at Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV), raising concerns about declining participation in doctoral programs. According to official information, the university conducted an offline PhD entrance examination to fill 645 research seats across 17 branches in seven colleges, but only 218 candidates were selected, leaving 427 seats unfilled.

The entrance examination was held in December 2024, for which more than 1,100 admit cards were issued, yet the actual number of successful candidates remained low. Due to the shortage of eligible applicants, the university now plans to conduct another entrance examination after six months to fill the remaining vacant seats.

University officials have confirmed that interviews for the selected 218 candidates will begin soon, while preparations are underway for the next admission cycle. Reports also indicate that strict security measures were implemented during the entrance test to ensure transparency and prevent irregularities.
